Why most runs should be easy
Running slower most of the time makes you faster. Here's why.

What “easy” means
A pace where you can talk in full sentences. If you can only say a few words, you're going too fast. For many runners that feels almost too slow at first.
What easy running builds
Easy running builds the base everything else stands on: a stronger heart, more small blood vessels in your muscles, and legs and tendons that can take more. It does this with little risk and quick recovery.
The trap of the middle
Running every run “a bit hard” feels productive, but it leaves you too tired for the sessions that really need effort – and it's where many overuse injuries come from.
How Runbriel uses this
Most of your plan is easy running, with a limit instead of a target pace. Harder sessions are few, short and never on back-to-back days.
