Choosing running shoes
Comfort beats labels: how to find a pair that works for you.

Comfort first
The best shoe is the one that feels comfortable from the first steps – no pressure points, enough room for your toes (about a thumb's width).
Try them on later in the day
Feet swell during the day and on runs. Try shoes with your running socks and, if you can, run a few steps in them.
One pair for easy runs
A cushioned daily trainer covers most of a plan. A lighter pair for fast sessions or races is a nice extra, not a must.
When to replace
Many shoes are replaced somewhere between 500 and 800 km, but it varies a lot. If the cushioning feels flat or new aches appear, it may be time – your shoe tracker helps you keep count.
